The war between russia and Ukraine has displaced millions of people, constituting the largest humanitarian crisis in Europe since the Second World War. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) has been on the frontlines of humanitarian response, working with those who have been forced to flee their homes. Today, after an in-depth needs assessment, JRSEurope is presenting the coordinated unified response from the Society of Jesus to the crisis: The OneProposal. Within the scope of the One Proposal, JRS Ukraine is engaged in the following:

Humanitarian aid

The Jesuit Refugee Service centrally provides humanitarian aid of various kinds to internally displaced persons (sets of basic food products, personal hygiene products, items of daily use, vouchers for the purchase of goods).

Psychosocial support

The Jesuit Refugee Service organizes various recreational activities for internally displaced persons, groups for children, and also provides psychological assistance to persons in need.

Integration

The Jesuit Refugee Service organizes activities aimed at helping internally displaced persons with their integration into local society, learning about local history and culture. We also offer and organizeUkrainian language courses for adults and children from among internally displaced persons.

Shelter

The Jesuit Refugee Service provides shelter (including long-term) to internally displaced persons in two shelters located in Lviv and Bryukhovychi.

Legal and medical assistance

At the Jesuit Refugee Service, internally displaced persons can receive legal advice on issues of their status, social benefits, etc. Also, the Jesuit Refugee Service provides medical assistance to children and internally displaced persons in need.
